In case you hadn’t already heard, Brian Potwin, a co-founder and former Board member of Bend Bikes, is the newly minted Executive Director of Commute Options. He takes the helm from Jeff Monson, who retired from the position earlier this month.
Potwin, who already has over a decade under his belt working for the organization, moves into the new role after a 3-month, nationwide search. He began his tenure there in 2007 as a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Education Volunteer and later went on to lead the program. He helped develop the Bicycle Diversion program alongside the Bend Police Department and pioneered the Bend Open Streets and Walking School Bus (WSB) initiatives.
“Brian is the consummate Commute Options believer, employee, and leader,” says Commute Options Board Chair Gregg Morris. “The Board looks forward to seeing Brian’s enthusiastic leadership style steer our nonprofit into the next decade.”
Commute Options currently runs the Safe Routes to School and WSB programs for children, and the Get There Oregon, Commute Options Partners, and Oregon Friendly Driver programs for adults. In addition, the nonprofit holds special events and programs targeting active transportation users throughout the year.
We wish Brian and Commute Options all the best in 2020!
