Get Ready for the Ultimate Cargo Bike Show on June 1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Show off your ride, share stories, connect with fellow riders, and win prizes

Cyclists, cargo bike enthusiasts and coffee lovers mark your calendars for an unforgettable event: The Inaugural Coffee & Cargo Bike Show. This unique event will take place on June 1 between 11am and 3pm at the plaza in front of The Commons Coffee House.

Sponsored by Bend Bikes and Bend Electric Bikes, this community-driven extravaganza invites cargo bike owners – or those interested in one – to showcase their bikes, share cycling adventures, and connect with fellow urban riders.

“One of our goals at Bend Bikes is to get more people in Bend riding bikes. Cargo bikes are a great way to do that. These bikes are handy for hauling groceries, transporting kids and pets, or lugging outdoor gear,” says Elisa Cheng, President of Bend Bikes.

Why Cargo Bikes?

If you already own a cargo bike, you know the answer. Cargo bikes were once predominantly used for making deliveries or hauling merchandise from one end of town to the other. But recently, families and individuals have discovered the bikes’ joy and convenience.

Sterling McCord has been an electric bike pioneer in Bend – opening up Bend Electric Bikes in 2008, well before they were a common sight on our streets. Over the years, he has seen what has worked and what hasn’t. “Cargo bikes are the most versatile, family-friendly option out there, especially for growing families,” McCord said. “And there is no denying the fun factor.”

Riding a cargo bike is easy and accessible to most people. Cargo bikes are designed for stability and balance, so they can carry heavier loads without sacrificing maneuverability. Around our local trails and bike paths, you see riders transport their children, pets, tools, groceries, just about anything.

The cargo bike market was valued at nearly $8 million in 2024. The industry is expected to reach more than $27 million by 2034.
