We hope you will join us at the end of the month for our bike buses to Alpenglow park! We will be biking to Alpenglow for the Environmental Center Earth Day Fair and Parade. This event is in celebration of both Earth Day and Celebrate Trails Day!
There are two routes for the bike buses, one from Pilot Butte State Park on the East side of the butte and the other from Compass Park in NW Crossing. The Compass Park route will follow neighborhood streets and paths before crossing 3rd street at Franklin then riding along the new separated path to the Coyner trail to connect with the other bike bus at Ponderosa Park. Along this route there will be stops at Kingston elementary, Drake Park and Juniper Park; Bend Bikes volunteers will be stationed at each of these points to orient folks joining the bike buses mid-route. The Pilot Butte State Park route will follow the Larkspur trail to Ponderosa Park where we will join forces with the other bike bus. From Ponderosa Park, the combined bike buses will take 15th street, stopping at Larkspur Park to pick up additional individuals, then continue on to Alpenglow park. While there are multi-use paths along isolated portions of 15th street, much of the corridor is without safe bike infrastructure so individuals may decide to use the sidewalks depending on comfort level.
Note: Given the likelihood of different schedules, there will be no bike buses leaving from the event but we encourage attendees to connect and bike pool back together!
