Position Overview
Bend Bikes seeks a motivated and organized Program Manager (1099 contractor) to oversee and implement key organizational initiatives, events, and advocacy efforts in alignment with our strategic priorities. This role will coordinate community engagement, manage volunteers, support advocacy campaigns, and ensure smooth organizational operations to advance our mission.
Key Responsibilities
Advocacy & Partnerships (30%)
- Support advocacy efforts to influence city plans, policies, and projects that promote safe biking, walking, and rolling infrastructure.
- Build and maintain relationships with local government agencies, community partners, and advocacy organizations.
- Track relevant city planning efforts and provide input on behalf of Bend Bikes.
Community Engagement & Programs (30%)
- Plan, coordinate, and promote community events such as group rides, outreach activities, and educational programs.
- Manage content for newsletters, social media, and public communications to inspire a culture of active transportation.
- Maintain and update the Bend Bikes Map and other community resources.
Volunteer & Operations Management (20%)
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to support events, advocacy campaigns, and organizational needs.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to implement annual priorities and report on progress toward strategic goals.
- Ensure organizational systems, timelines, and deliverables run smoothly.
Fundraising & Organizational Sustainability (20%)
- Support the development of fundraising campaigns, donor engagement, and sponsorship outreach.
- Help identify and secure grants and other funding opportunities.
- Provide input on organizational growth strategies to ensure long-term sustainability.
Qualifications
- Experience in program or project management, preferably within a nonprofit or advocacy organization.
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Familiarity with active transportation, urban planning, or related advocacy is a plus.
- Proficient with common digital tools (Google Workspace, social media platforms, project management tools).
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to attend occasional evening/weekend events in Bend.
Contract Details
- Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
- Time Commitment: Approx. 15โ20 hours/week (varies seasonally)
- Compensation: $30/hour (Depends on Experience)
- Term: Initial 12-month contract with potential for renewal
