City staffers will hold open houses this week for Neighborhood Greenway projects on NE 6th and NW 15th. They are part the city’s standard outreach playbook to collect public input.
- NE 6th Neighborhood Greenway Open House
Date: Tuesday, March 20th from 5:30 to 7:30pm
Location: Marshall High School
1291 NE 5th Street, Bend - NW 15th Neighborhood Greenway Open House
Date: Thursday, March 22nd from 5:30 to 7:30pm
Location: Room 204 Tykeson Hall, OSU Cascades Campus
1567 SW Chandler Avenue, Bend
Despite the fact that Bend City Council has approved spending on neighborhood greenways (see our post about the 2017 budget process), these first two projects face potential hurdles before they’re put in place. This coming Fall is the current time frame for a phase one implementation of signs, sharrows and speed humps, but things could derail without the support of those who live near NE 6th and NW 15th.
These open houses are a drop-in format and show off the greenways’ preliminary designs. For those who live along or near the two proposed routes, they are doubly important because they are THE time and place to tell the city’s project team your opinion about greenways in your neighborhood. Staffers will provide forms for you to hand-write your support of these projects. Your support is critical!
These are just the first Neighborhood Greenways the city will be implementing over the next few years. Above is a preliminary map showing how these will create a basic network of greenways. Click here for more about the city’s greenway plans.
See you there!
