I volunteer at Bear Creek Elementary School Monday, Wednesday and Friday as one of the crosswalk guards. It is a great way to get into the community and help keep kids safe as they bike, walk, and roll to school.
My route starts at my house on Silver Lake Blvd. I ride north on Silver Lake and the turn left onto Hill Street. When it joins SE Wilson, I turn right and travel over the Parkway on SE Wilson. This route is much more pleasant as I join the protected bike lane at SE 2nd and continue east on SE Wilson through the new protected intersection at SE 3rd. What a great intersection in my opinion!
I continue east on SE Wilson and travel through the roundabout at SE 9th. I take the lane as it is more comfortable in my experience than the cycle lane. After the roundabout, I continue east on SE Wilson until I reach the entrance to Ponderosa Park where I join the Coyner Trail and head north. I enter the back of Bear Creek Elementary and follow the asphalt path to the roundabout at SE 15th and NE Bear Creek where I greet the kids!
