SUMMARY:Public Comment for Midtown Crossing Projects at TBOC Meeting
DESCRIPTION:A summary of community feedback on the Midtown Bicycle and Pedestrian Crossing projects is now available to the public! The next steps for these potential GO Bond projects is for City Council to receive recommendations from a working group comprised of members from the Core Area Advisory Board (CAAB) and the Transportation Bond Oversight Committee (TBOC). Provide your public comment to TBOC in person on Tuesday\, October 4th or visit the website below to join the meeting virtually. \nThese public comment periods are the best way to make your voice heard! Review the Midtown Bicycle and Pedestrian Crossing Open House summary here. \nA note to our supporters: Bend Bikes sees the most potential for near-term safety improvements at Greenwood where there is plenty of space to work with and options for quick-build protected bike lanes. Having these safety improvements at Greenwood will help alleviate detour stress when Franklin is improved and Hawthorne is constructed. Our dreams for Franklin and Hawthorne both require time consuming and expensive permitting\, planning\, and construction processes\, so our hope is that the behind-the-scenes work progresses while we move forward with Greenwood.

SUMMARY:Bend School Garden Bike Tour
DESCRIPTION:Bend Bikes is teaming up with The Environmental Center’s Garden for Every School program for a School Garden Tour by bike! We will visit 3 school garden sites in northeast Bend\, the Deschutes County Juvenile Community Justice Detention Facility\, Bend International School\, and Desert Sky Montessori School. We begin our ride at 2:00pm at the Deschutes County Juvenile Division building and loop back there at the end of our time together for those that need to leave a car there. \nWe will travel at a casual pace with ride leaders at the front and back of the group so that no one is left behind! Our route will include a combination of neighborhood streets\, low-traffic roads without bike lanes\, and busier roads with marked bike lanes. There are sidewalks along some\, but not all\, the roadways. O.B. Riley is a known bike-route for recreational cyclists and has a dedicated (unprotected) bike lane but the speed limit is 35 miles per hour\, which has earned it its designation as a route for riders of above-average skill. View the route here. The bike ride is 2.5 miles and will be limited to 25 bikers. \nVisit the Environmental Center’s website below to view full details and itinerary.\nRegister here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/school-garden-bike-tour-with-bend-bikes-tickets-429799942197 \nIf you don’t have a bike\, Bend Electric Bikes has offered to donate one to us for this tour!\nEmail denise at denise@envirocenter.org for more details.
